Perspectives through Prose, Poetry and Photography
Re-enacted religiously since that night,
Remembering with sensual clarity the first time:
Crystal chandelier ascending; upward, inward,
slowly but seemingly inexorably,
Stunningly skyward.
Grand Tier light extinguished
As smaller orbs, in spoke-like formation
Follow, like ducklings waddling after mama mallard.
Lights go down when lights go up:
Irony, simplicity, harmony

Interesting contrast between opera and ducks (said the Teal)! Really lovely structure and imagery. Very nicely done :)))

I’m an idiot. I thought ‘mallard’ referred to only the male duck. I googled it. You already know that I was wrong. π
I love how visual this piece is. Great job with the prompt. Remember to come back and vote!

Funny, I googled it too, because I was trying to find a more poetic word for a mama duck and discovered that there are female mallards. Being an NCIS fan (Dr. Mallard, aka Ducky)I had to go with mama mallard. Thanks for checking and for commenting.
