The porch light blinked on and off, yet again.
“I’ve never been so humiliated in all my life. “
She rushed to her room, wishing she could just die!
Mom smiled and locked up!
This was written in response to Trifextra Challenge week 55; demonstrate hyperbole in thirty three words.
I remember well, the outrage: My parents would stand guard, flicking the porch light on and off, as I kissed my childhood sweetheart goodnight. Eleven o’clock…lights out! My cheeks still sting in embarrassment.
The problem with parental power is the temptation to abuse it, nice piece!

Ah, yes. Meddlesome Mom and the porch lights. I had forgotten all about that. Thanks for the memories!

It became a shared joke among my circle of friends. Often, we’d walk home from the movies as a group and even so, the darned lights were flashed like clock work! After a while we came to expect it.

After a while my beau ( now my hubby) knew what to expect, and inviting in for hot chocolate was a much less confrontational outcome! Thanks for taking the time to comment.

And I thought my parents were the clever ones! Actually it is a non-intrusive way to remind our young ones that we care enough to be there. Thanks, Deana.
